DANE SIMPSON
COMEDIAN, TV & RADIO PERFORMER
Dane Simpson, the undisputed Comedy King of Wagga, burst onto the scene in 2015 as a national finalist on Deadly Funny. Since then, it’s been a fast-rising trajectory for this comedian, who is now in hot demand. A whirlwind of corporate gigs, tours, and festival runs followed, both as a solo artist and as part of Aborigi-LOL.
In 2023, Dane took his hit show Didgerydoozy to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and debuted his new show Always Was Always Will Be Funny at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF). That same year, he appeared alongside his dad, Bow, on Network Ten’s The Amazing Race – Celebrity Edition, and also appeared on Thank God You Are Here. Additionally, Dane produces the monthly Riverina Comedy Club and is a programmer/producer for the Wagga Comedy Festival. He is also a regular guest on ABC Radio, joining Anna Moulder and Richard Glover for their TGIF show.
2022 saw the creation of Didgerydoozy, a critically acclaimed, gut-busting show where Dane introduces audiences to his mastery of comedic didgeridoo playing. The show debuted at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, toured around Australia, and then took the world stage, performing in India and currently at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The year ended with a bang for this gifted comedian, with Didgerydoozy featured in a one-hour stand-up comedy special, now available on Paramount+ and ABC iview.
During the lockdown, Dane became the host of the hit series Servo Bingo. The quirky, live, and interactive show quickly amassed a cult following. The premise was simple but entertaining: calling out the cars and characters that would roll into the local service station across from the Thirsty Crow Brewery in Wagga. It was every bit as silly, fun, and entertaining as it sounds!
Dane’s stratospheric rise continued with guest appearances on Just for Laughs, Would I Lie to You?, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Wil Anderson's Question Everything, Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow (2022 & 2023), Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala (2021), Get Krackin’, The Hundred with Andy Lee, SBS's Letters & Numbers, and even showing off his cooking skills (or lack thereof) on The Cook-Up with Adam Liaw. He will soon be seen on Guy Montgomery’s Spelling Bee.
Dane is also an accomplished actor with roles in The Emu War (2023), Residence (2024 release), The Merger (2018), and Get Krackin’ (2019). He’s also a sought-after MC and comedian on the corporate circuit.
